Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 October 2026
What changed: a new section, Copyright and DMCA notices, after section 7.
These Terms of Service apply to everyone who uses kovante.com ("Kovante", "we", "us"). Kovante is a trade name of Lambertjade Limited Company, a Texas company. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. What Kovante is
Kovante helps families compare licensed senior care facilities. It is free for families. Facilities ("operators") can claim their listing and can pay for optional services. Paying never changes the public records we show about a facility.
2. Not a recommendation, and not advice
- A listing on Kovante is not a recommendation or endorsement of any facility. Our order of results is not a ranking of quality.
- We don't provide care, and we don't inspect or supervise facilities.
- Nothing on the site is medical, legal, financial or care-planning advice. Talk to a qualified professional about your situation.
- Always check with the facility and the state licensing agency before you make a decision. Visit in person when you can.
- In an emergency, call 911. To report abuse or neglect, contact your state's adult protective services or long-term care ombudsman.
3. Public data and no warranty
- Much of what we show comes from government sources, such as state licensing lists and federal inspection files. Each facility page shows the source and the date we got it.
- Public records can be out of date, incomplete or wrong, and we can make mistakes copying them. The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a purpose, or that the site will always work.
- If something is wrong, tell us using "Report an error" on the facility page or the Contact page. We check it against the source and correct our copying errors. If the source itself is wrong, the fix has to be made by the agency that publishes it.
4. Using the site: what's allowed and what isn't
You may use Kovante for your own search and for sharing links with others. You may not:
- copy, scrape or bulk-download listings or data, or use bots to do so, except as allowed in our robots.txt;
- resell or republish our pages or compilations;
- post or send anything false, misleading, unlawful, harassing, or that belongs to someone else;
- pretend to be someone else, or claim a listing you are not authorized to manage;
- try to break, overload, or get around the security of the site;
- use the site to send spam or to contact families for marketing.
We may block access or remove content that breaks these rules.
5. Families
- You must be 18 or older to send us a message or create anything on the site.
- Please don't send us medical details or other sensitive information about a resident. We don't need it.
- How we handle information is explained in our Privacy page.
6. Operators
- Only someone authorized by a facility may claim or manage its listing. We may ask for proof and may refuse or remove a claim.
- What you add to your listing must be true and kept current. You are responsible for it.
- If you confirm or change details for your listing (for example phone, email, website or address), you are responsible for them. We show the state or federal record beside them, we may remove or correct a value you entered, and we keep a log of changes. Confirming details is free and does not change where your facility appears in search.
- Documents you upload for verification are handled as set out on the Privacy page (kept 12 months after our verification decision, then deleted).
- Paid services are governed by the Operator agreement. If it conflicts with these terms, the Operator agreement wins for paid services.
- We will not remove or soften an accurate public record at an operator's request.
7. Our content and yours
- The site design, text and our compilations belong to us or our licensors. Government records remain public records.
- If you send us content (for example a listing description or photos), you confirm you have the right to, and you let us display it on Kovante for as long as it is live.
- Copyright complaints are handled as set out in the Copyright and DMCA notices section below.
Copyright and DMCA notices
Kovante respects copyright. Facility accounts can upload photos and text to their listings. If you believe material on kovante.com infringes your copyright, you can send a notice to our designated copyright agent:
Copyright Agent
Lambertjade Limited Company (doing business as Kovante, kovante.com)
P.O. Box 665, Hutto, TX 78634
Email: copyright@kovante.com
Phone: (512) 542-4286
What a notice must contain. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), a notice must be in writing and include:
- a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for the owner;
- a description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed (if several works are on one list, a representative list is enough);
- a description of the material you say is infringing and where it is on the site (for example the web address), with enough detail for us to find it;
- your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
A notice that leaves out these items may not be enough for us to act on it. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), a person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can be liable for damages.
What we do. When we receive a notice that meets these requirements, we remove or disable access to the material and tell the facility account that posted it.
Counter-notice. If you posted material that was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(g)(3) it must be in writing and include: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) a description of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal; (3) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief it was removed because of mistake or misidentification; and (4) your name, address and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the United States, any district where Lambertjade Limited Company can be found), and a statement that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We pass a counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If that person does not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we receive your counter-notice.
Repeat infringers. We end the Kovante accounts of facilities that are repeat infringers, as the law asks (17 U.S.C. 512(i)).
This section is only about copyright. For anything else, use the Contact page.
8. Links to other sites
We link to government sites and to facilities' own sites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.
9. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any decision you make based on the site, or for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss;
- for families and other free users, our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to US$100;
- for paying operators, liability is limited as set out in the Operator agreement.
Some laws don't allow some of these limits. Where that's the case, they apply only as far as the law allows.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date and keep the earlier version available. If a change materially affects paying operators, we'll give notice as the Operator agreement says.
11. Texas law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Williamson County, Texas, unless the law requires otherwise.
12. SMS Terms
Program: Kovante listing texts, sent by Kovante (Lambertjade Limited Company, doing business as Kovante) from (737) 200-1415.
What you get: one-time verification codes when you sign in to your facility's Kovante account, and account notices about your listing, such as a change made to your listing. No marketing texts.
Who can join: staff of a facility listed on Kovante, by entering a mobile number on the "A few details so we can reach you" form or the "Your details" card in their dashboard, and ticking the box that agrees to texts. Agreeing is optional and is not a condition of using Kovante: codes can come by email or phone call instead.
How often: message frequency varies with your account activity: one text for each code you ask for or notice about your listing.
Message and data rates may apply.
To stop, reply STOP to any message (STOPALL, END, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE and OPT OUT also work), or ask us any other way, for example by email. We send one text confirming you are unsubscribed and nothing after that. To start again, reply START.
For help, reply HELP, email help@kovante.com, or use the Contact page.
Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.
How we handle your mobile number: see section 9 of our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
